FAQ: How does a 6620A series power supply detect that it is remote or local sensing, as there is no sense switch?

There are internal resistors from +Output to +Sense and from –Output to –Sense. Therefore, the sensing circuitry never becomes an open circuit.

If a sense lead becomes disconnected from its respective output lead, the actual output voltage could be 2% to 3% higher than the expected (programmed) value.
